So, unfortunately, we’re all becoming a bunch of short-attention-spanned scatterbrains. And no, it’s not just you being flakey; new research has revealed that human beings are more forgetful than ever.

Let’s not kid ourselves, it’s unbelievably difficult to concentrate in this digital day and age. In fact, the average human attention span has shrunk by nearly a quarter in just 15 years, leaving it at an embarrassing 8.25 seconds. For the record, that’s shorter than a goldfish.

But why does that matter to your digital marketing strategy?

Jakob Nielsen’s report shows exactly how long visitors stay on a web page before they abandon it. The answer is, yep, you guessed it, not that long. It turns out that a visitor will typically leave a web page in just 10-20 seconds. That’s not really enough time to convince them that they should be using your services, is it? Big problem.

In terms of being able to focus on a task or object, we’re getting a hell of a lot worse. So when it comes to marketing, you need to capture your audience’s attention long enough for them to take an interest. But how do we do that?
