Our first Women in Tech event was such a fun, inspiring afternoon that we just had to plan another! So join us on Wednesday 24th October for our second Salesforce Women in Tech event in Nottingham, filled with insightful career stories, practical tips and advice, and eye-opening knowledge. Oh, and doughnuts. Mustn’t forget to mention the doughnuts…
The Nottingham Women in Tech Group is powered by those who want to share their industry experiences, learn how to get a career in tech, increase diversity in the workplace and above all, support each other. We want to show that there is a huge network of support in Nottingham for those who are interested in Tech, no matter your identity.
Here are a few of our aims:
- To raise awareness of the gender gap in the tech industry
- To provide tips and advice on how to enter a tech role
- To share a better understanding of the wider roles available in tech
- To discuss the progress for diversity in tech so far
- To teach businesses how to develop a successful diversity in tech initiative
- To share the experiences of those who are experts in their fields; from engineers, to founders, to investors, to marketers, to designers and more.
At the June event, we hung out with a complete mix of 37 attendees; some were students, some were looking for more career options, and some just wanted to learn and meet like-minded people. Whatever their background, all of our guests were looking to get inspired, learn something new, and make connections — and that’s exactly what happened. The feedback we got from our post-event survey was that it was a really “relaxed”, “fun”, and “inspiring” afternoon, and we can’t wait to do it all over again!
This time we’ll have another 4 awesome speakers come to give some practical advice, share their stories, and spark ideas. Here’s the planned agenda for our October event:
Valuing your difference
Frankie Cotton, Co-Founder of Found & Flourish
Staying true to your strengths in a business environment can be tough, especially in technical fields where knowledge can be used as a power-play. This talk will explore the importance of owning your difference and using that insight to craft a career path that is uniquely yours.
Gemma Emmett, Solution Architect at Bluewolf and founder of Ladies be Architects
Learn about how Gemma got to where she is today; how she’s achieved her impressive Salesforce career, and what prompted her to found Ladies be Architects.
